Orlandos in concert

We're a friendly auditioned chamber-choir, rehearsing weekly in Chesterton, Cambridge. We put on about three main concerts each year, with a number of smaller and informal charity events, carol concerts and similar dotted around these. Our core repertoire focusses on well-known major choral works (recent performances include: Mozart Requiem, Poulenc Gloria, Ayers The Christmas Truce or Parry Songs of Farewell) but we do also enjoy shorter pieces or suites. We perform music from early Renaissance composers, through to modern 20th Century music, and have often premiered new pieces by local composers.

The choir is made up of amateur singers from around Cambridgeshire. Soloists are chosen by audition from amongst choir members, and we are currently directed by Karol Jaworski.

Sing with the Orlandos

We're always open to new singers wishing to join our ranks. We rehearse most Thursday evenings during term-time, 8-9.30pm, at St Andrew's Hall in Chesterton, Cambridge. Interested singers should get in touch via our online sign-up form.

You will need to be able to read music fairly confidently, and be happy to hold your own part in unaccompanied SATB repertoire. Our audition process is fairly relaxed; singers are invited to sing with us at a rehearsal, after which you'll meet with the conductor and members of the committee. You are welcome to bring a prepared piece of music to perform, and you may be asked to complete some basic aural exercises or sing at sight.

Get in touch

We're always happy to hear from people interested in our choir. We're very friendly and open to opportunities. Whether you want to ask us about performing at a private event, if you're a composer looking for an ensemble to premiere your work, or simply want to join our mailing list to stay up to date with our concerts, we'll be happy to hear from you. Drop us a message via our online form, or get in touch via our Facebook page or Twitter account @OrlandosCambs - we'll get back to you!
